Like always, this year too we saw Salman Khan celebrating the Hindu festival Ganesh Chaturthi. Only this year, he celebrated this at a different venue. He welcomed Lord Ganesh at his sister Arpita's apartment in Bandra on September 9, 2013.
The actor's close family members were present at the event for this celebration on the auspicious occasion. This festival is celebrated as the rebirth of Lord Ganesh, the son of Shiva and Parvati. This festival which lasts for 10 to 12 days is fun filled as most of the homes and streets keep a clay modeled Ganesh. Then either on the same day or after a particular number of days, the idol is sunk in to a water body. This is the ritual followed by Hindus in India.
If you are wondering why actor Salman Khan celebrated this festival, don't worry; we have an explanation. It is said that superstar Sallu's mother is a Dongra Hindu. In the year 2010, the actor said that he is half Muslim and half Hindu and therefore we see the 47-year-old celebrating quite a few Hindu festivals like Maha Shivaratri and Ganesh Chaturthi. So here we have put down a slide show of Salman Khan and his family celebrating this big festival.
