Best Critically Acclaimed Bollywood Movies Of 2014

Most of the commercial potboilers in Bollywood industry are hated by the critics because it lacks logic and so on. Very rarely do the critics and fans both end up enjoying the same movie, but today we are going to list those films of 2014 that have been loved by both.

The year started off with a string of flop movies, even Salman Khan's Jai Ho did not achieve much success in comparison to his other movies but then finally Imitiaz Ali's Highway starring Alia Bhatt and Randeep Hooda released which proved to be like a breath of fresh air for both critics and fans who were desperately waiting for a flawless, entertaining good movie.

Highway not just impressed the audience but the fans fell in love with it too, so it became the first critically acclaimed movie of 2014 which was a Box Office hit as well. After this a number of good movies released through the year like Queen, Mardaani and Mary Kom which were Box Office hits as well as critically acclaimed.

With these movies, the women of Bollywood came into power for all these movies were women oriented and achieved major success. Close to the year end, in October we saw the release of Vishal Bharadwaj's Haider which not only managed to make profit but it was loved by both fans and critics. It was a visual treat that touched our souls with it's brilliant picturization.

Though it got a strong fight from Hrithik's Bang Bang, Haider managed to hold ground which proves that good cinema do get their due. Next up is Bhopal: A Prayer For Rain, based on a real life incident that took place 30 years ago in India. Already we can smell the success of this movie which is releasing on 5th December.

The movie which was directed by Hansal Mehta was released on 30th May and obtained huge critical acclaim. The lead stars of the movie, Rajkummar Rao and Patralekha too performed brilliantly.

The film directed by Pradeep Sarkar released on 22nd August of 2014 and it was one of the best women oriented films we have seen in a long time. Lead actress Rani Mukerji shined in her role of a cop.

The film directed by Omung Kumar released on 5th September, 2014 and was based on the life of boxer Mary Kom. Priyanka Chopra who essayed the lead role impressed us all with her breathtaking performance.

Haider

The film released on 2nd October, 2014. Haider clashed with Hrithik's Bang Bang and so it could not cash in on the Box Office collection but the movie won the hearts of people and critics as it was breathtakingly beautiful and a visual treat as well.

The film released on 7th November along with The Shaukeens but people preferred watching this movie. The film had been delayed for a really long time, yet it impressed the critics and the fans equally.

The film is releasing on 5th December but by the looks of it we can already assure you that it will be one helluva movie. The film is based on real-life Bhopal disaster that had occurred in India on December 2-3, 1984 and stars a number of Hollywood and Bollywood stars like Martin Sheen, Mischa Barton, Rajpal Yadav, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Akhil Mishra, Fagun Thakrar, Joy Sengupta, Kal Penn.
