Mother Teresa quoted, "It's not how much we give but how much love we put into giving." You have not lived until you have done something for someone who can never repay you. And our Bollywood celebrities have done just that, they have shared a huge amount of their earnings to help the people in need.

While some Bollywood celebrities love to splurge on themselves, family and friends, there are quite a few celebrities who think beyond family when it comes to putting their money into good use. Certain celebrities simply waste bags of money on expensive gadgets, lavish parties and gifts like Shah Rukh Khan who is known for his expensive gifts to friends but when it comes to charity, the Badshah is missing from the scene.

His arch rival, Salman Khan is totally opposite, in fact he is known for his charitable organization called Being Human all over the world. Initially Salman supported this NGO through his personal earnings but now he has created a clothing brand by the same name, whose earnings go completely towards the NGO.

Salman Khan has always been a passionate philanthropist, he started an NGO called ‘Being Human'. It started off as a trust, but today, it is a popular foundation that aids child health and education.

Priyanka Chopra

In 2010, Priyanka Chopra was appointed as UNICEF's national ambassador to support Indian children and their right to education. Not only has this Bollywood diva actively spoken about child rights, she has also helped create awareness for the rights of the girl child.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Aishwarya Rai donated her gorgeous eyes to the eye bank association of India. She even started her own foundation in India to help the needy.

John Abraham

For those who didn't know, John Abraham, happens to be an animal lover. He is active member of PETA India and strives to give animals a better life. Apart from working with PETA, the actor also helps raise funds for the homeless.

Shilpa Shetty

Did you know that Shilpa Shetty donated all her winnings from Big Brother towards the AIDS awareness campaign in India? She also plays a vital role in PETA and the ‘Act Against Bullying' campaign.

Amitabh Bachchan

Amitabh Bachchan was the face of UNICEF's polio campaign. Big B even started an online bidding scheme called 'Jenaration'. This site allowed celebrities to put their clothes for sale and the money generated would be given to various charities.

Recently, Vidya Balan has become the brand ambassador for clean drinking water and sanitation campaign. We hear the actress will soon be seen supporting a campaign called ‘Clean Picture' which is a GOI initiative for a cleaner India.
