Salman even had lunch with the Hindu nationalist Narendra Modi and said, "I have been impressed by the development in Gujarat. Seeing everyone happy and content gives me immense pleasure. The best man for the country should be the PM, good man (Narendra Modi) is standing next to me."
Amitabh who is the brand ambassador of Gujarat Tourism has also been seen as a Bollywood celebrity who is supporting Narendra Modi. When asked about how he feels Modi has secular credentials, Big B replied, "Is there some kind of a constitutional law that says that somebody has some political belief and therefore you can't be friends with him? Everybody has the freedom to be friends with anyone. You are talking about my role in promoting Gujarat, which is part of my country. Modi is a constitutionally elected chief minister of a state. Deny him that, and then talk to me."
