Happy Birthday, Sidharth Malhotra

Sidharth Malhotra, the latest addition to the fresh crop of stars in Bollywood, is celebrating his 28th birthday today on January 16. The Delhi dude was an overnight sensation post the release of his first film Student of the year, produced by Karan Johar. Considered as a promising new comer, he is chosen for good roles in the movies of Karan Johar and Anurag Kashyap, this year. Even though, Student Of The Year was a candy floss romance, the coming year promises a mix of genre films for Sidharth. Hasee Toh Phasee, produced by once arch rivals Karan Johar and Anurag Kashyap, is one of the films he has a lot of expectation on.

Sidharth doesn't believe in rumours as he thinks that it cannot make one's career. He famously said " I don't believe in being in the news. I don't think anyone would watch a film because of an actor's link-up. They watch a movie only if it is good. Also, I don't know if people have link-ups just so they can make news. I am new (to the industry), so I don't know if there are benefits to these things. In Student Of The Year, with Alia Bhatt, Sidharth did the role of Abhimanyu "Abhi" Singh , a student who comes from a middle class family with goals that touch sky.

An actor who has a lot of female following in the country, Sidharth doesn't consider any other star as his competition except Ranbir Kapoor, at this point in time. Sidharth holds Ranbir in high regards and believes he is the best. Siddharth said, " He has these nuances in his performances that none of us have. Among the others (newcomers), it's very tough to pick one person and call him my competition. We are all one-film-old; we will realise (our standing) only after our second and third films come out."

Sushant Singh Rajput and Varun Dhavan is considered as his other competitors by media as they are also the proven fresh faces in B town. Sidharth thinks that he will get to know his real competitors only after a few years. He believes that all other fresh faces debuted with him would have proved their mettle by that time. This handsome hunk, also doesn't believe that stakes are high for a new comer when his second movie releases."I wouldn't say it can make or break (careers), as we all have proved that we are here to stay." "But delivering at box office is a necessity", believes the Hasee To Phasee actor.

As today is birthday, he revealed his plans for this birthday. He will be going to Delhi and celebrating it with his family. In his own words, his loud Punjabi family will be celebrating this birthday of his in a grand function.
