The trend of making sequels is picking up in Bollywood as it helps the filmmakers to encash from the success of the prequels, which raked in the moolah and their characters left an impression over audiences. This forces the producers to create a franchise out of such characters.
Some sequels fail at the box office, while others lived upto the expectation of the audience. Film Singham Returns is the most awaited sequel of the year. Director Rohit Shetty has teamed up with actor Ajay Devgn once again after delivering their first 100 crore grosser Singham in the year 2011.

Lage Raho Munna Bhai
The audience appreciated the chemistry between Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi which was directed by Rajkumar Hirani. Film was the blockbuster hit of the year 2006, as it earned nearly 950 million.
Golmaal 3
Film was the sequel to the hit film Golmaal Returns which featured actor Ajay Devgn and Kareena Kapoor in the lead roles. Movie collected 83 million on the opening day and was the second highest grossing film of the year 2010.
Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobara
Film left behind the original one by the huge margin as the sequel earned nearly 366 million on the four day weekend. Film had to share the screen availability with the film Chennai Express but still it lived upto the audiences' expectation. Movie was released in the year 2013.
Dabaang 2
After enjoying Salman's action in the film Dabaang, the audience rushed to watch the sequel of the film. Dabaang 2 earned 990 millions at the end of the first week. Where as Dabaang had collected only 502 million at the end of the first week.
Krrish 3
Hrithik Roshan was seen in the superhero avatar in the film which was directed by Rajesh Roshan. The VFX effects of the film took nearly one and a half year to get included into the film. The first weekend collection of the film was of 530 million which was more than the collection of the film Krrish.
Aashiqui 2
Film was declared the blockbuster hit of the year 2013, after its three week long run at the box office. Movie earned total of 1.09 Billions on the last day at the box office.
