Why Mahesh Bhatt Hates Aamir Khan

Bollywood Industry calls Aamir Khan by the name of Mr Perfectionist. There is a solid reason behind it. Aamir was obviously a game changer for the industry from the beginning of his career. He didn't choose a traditional film to launch himself but selected the minor antagonist role in Ketan Mehta's film Holi. The next two films he did back to back were Raakh and Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. Even though Aamir began shooting for Raakh first, it is Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak which released first and got him the fame he deserved. His last film Dhoom 3 has become the highest grossing Indian film till date.

Now, what could be the reason for Mahesh Bhatt to think that Aamir is the most under performer of Bollywood superstars. When Karan Johar asked Mahesh Bhatt, in his chat show Koffee With Karan, to rank the superstars according to their acting capability, Bhatt ranked Aamir Khan too low and placed him in the last position. In his opinion, the best actor is Shahrukh Khan and he is followed by Ajay Devgn, Hrithik Roshan, Ranbir Kapoor and Salman Khan in the respective second, third and fourth position while Aamir got only the fifth and last position in his rating.

How could a director, that too a senior director, in his right mind can think that Aamir is worse in acting capability than all other khans, Ranbir Kapoor and Hrithik Roshan? Mysterious, isn't it ? But this is what exactly Bhatt said when Karan Johar Asked him to rate four superstars of Bollywood according to their acting capability.

Is there a rift between the filmmaker who gave us Daddy, Sadak and Zakham and Mr Perfectionist who took Indian Cinema to Oscars (Aamir's Lagaan is the only India film that made it to the last round of nomination in foreign film's category.) If there is a problem between these two creative people, what could possible be it ? Mahesh Bhatt always took interest in taking potshots at Aamir.

When Lagaan went to the oscars, Bhatt famously said, in national television "lobbying for the oscar award in this manner was akin to grovelling before the white man" which clearly destroyed his equation with Aamir Khan.

Aamir retored saying, "what is one supposed to say to this kind of thing? I am hurt by bhatt's negative mindset.is there anything wrong if foreign audiences like your film, and if you show it to them? as far as i am concerned, americans could be white, pink, yellow or blue skins. how is that relevant to anything? we only tried to get as many jury members as possible to see our film as is the norm. humne kisiko paise nahin khilaye hain (we haven't bribed anyone).''

It looks like Mahesh didn't forget this till now. He also criticized Delhi Belly, produced by Aamir, for being sleazy. He said that Aamir cautioning his audience about the sleazy content Delhi Belli consists of, to be nothing but publicity gimmicks in the name of social concern.

In the chat show, when Karan asked 'One thing you would like to change in the film industry today', director Bhatt replied, again indirectly taking potshots at Aamir, "This pathetic lust for oscars".

We hope the war and misunderstanding between these two creative individuals may end soon!
