Kareena Kapoor was reportedly involved in a dispute with Bobby Deol's wife Tanya Deol on the set of their film Ajnabee. Although there were rumors of a slap, neither party confirmed this detail. At the beginning of her career, Bipasha was introduced as an outsider and Tanya Deol chose to extend her support. Tanya assisted Bipasha with her outfits for the movie Ajnabee. However, this gesture didn't sit well with Babita, Kareena Kapoor's mother, who expressed her disapproval to Tanya.

In response to Babita's criticism, Tanya, unaware of the reason behind the outburst, defended her actions. Even Kareena, who was relatively new in the industry at the time, wasn't allegedly pleased with Tanya helping Bipasha. While there are unconfirmed reports about a possible slap incident, Kareena admitted in a later interview that she didn't like Tanya.

During an interview with Filmfare, Kareena mentioned, "Actually, there was a problem with his (Bobby Deol) wife, Tanya. She didn't behave properly with my mother. And I didn't like that." She even confirmed that she did not have a problem with Bobby saying, "I don't deny a problem with Bobby's wife. But I'm sure my problems with Bobby can be sorted out. There's no negativity from my end."

In the same interview, Kareena took a dig at Bipasha Basu, saying, "She just doesn't seem to have any confidence in her own talent. In a four-page interview, she spoke about me for three pages. Why not talk about your work? "I think her only claim to fame is that she fought with me during Ajnabee over dress designer Vikram Phadnis. She's given statements that I called her uncharitable names. Now, that's a figment of her imagination."

Later, on Karan Johar's show Koffee with Karan, Bobby Deol laughed off the incident, expressing his cluelessness about the reasons behind the feud, although Karan confirmed that something did happen.

Kareena reportedly got her revenge when she opted not to work with Bobby Deol in Jab We Met, previously titled Geet, despite Deol expressing his eagerness to be a part of the film. Ultimately, Shahid Kapoor replaced Bobby Deol in the project after Kareena joined the cast.
