When Saif Ali Khan Opened Up On Paying 5 Crore Alimony To Ex-Wife Amrita Singh; ‘I’m Not Shah Rukh Khan…’

Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh's love story began on the sets of Rahul Rawail's film, where sparks flew, and romance blossomed. After a memorable dinner date, Amrita smote Saif, and they eventually tied the knot in 1991.

The couple spent 13 years together and welcomed two children, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan, into their lives. However, their marriage took an unexpected turn, leading to their mutual decision to divorce in 2004.

The divorce took an emotional toll on Saif Ali Khan, who openly shared his sentiments about the separation in a 2005 interview with the Telegraph. During this interview, one of the most significant revelations was the alimony he paid to Amrita Singh.

Saif revealed, "I'm supposed to give Amrita Rs 5 crore, of which I've already given her approximately Rs 2.5 crore. Also, I'm paying Rs 1 lakh per month until my son becomes 18. I'm not Shah Rukh Khan. I don't have that kind of money. I've promised her I'll pay up the rest of the money, and I will, even if I've to slog till I drop dead."

Despite the financial obligations, Saif emphasized his commitment to providing for their children. He stated, "Whatever I've earned from doing ads, stage shows, and films are being given for my children. I've no money. Our bungalow is for Amrita and the kids, and never mind the relatives who've joined her after my departure."
"I want no confrontation with Amrita. She was, and will remain, an integral part of my life. I want her and my kids to be happy," he concluded.

Over the years, both Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh have moved on in their respective lives. In 2012, Saif married Kareena Kapoor, and the couple is now proud parents to Taimur Ali Khan and Jeh Ali Khan. Amrita Singh, on the other hand, is happily raising their children, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan.

Since then the family has gracefully embraced their modern relationships, maintaining a warm and cordial bond with each other.
