In an interview with Humans Of Bombay, Vidya Balan, the beloved wife of Sidharth Roy Kapur, the CEO of UTV Motion Pictures, shared a heartwarming story about how their paths crossed for the first time. While Sidharth is known for his shy and reserved nature, Vidya exudes a vibrant and outspoken personality. They first crossed paths at the Filmfares backstage. Later, their mutual friend and renowned director, Karan Johar, played a pivotal role in bringing them together.

Later, Vidya revealed that Karan Johar played the cupid and got them together. The filmmaker hosted a party where he invited both Sidharth and Vidya, setting the stage for their fateful meeting. Karan signaled Sidharth at the party to approach Vidya, who was on the other side of the room. And so, their conversation began.

Recalling that special day, Vidya told the portal, "Life was bringing us together a lot at that time. We ended up at a party together at Karan's place. Karan has played Cupid in this relationship. He invited me to a party at his house and I was a bit surprised because I didn't really know him. I felt how sweet."

Sidharth's bold move, to approach her left a lasting impression on Vidya's heart. After their meeting at Karan Johar's party, fate once again brought them together on a flight. Vidya was en route to shoot her then-upcoming film, No One Killed Jessica, which happened to be produced by Sidharth's company, UTV Motion Pictures.

The two meetings deeply impacted Vidya, who was clearly impressed with Sidharth's undeniable charm.

Vidya Balan finally broke her silence about her courtship with Siddharth Roy Kapur after he proposed to her for marriage. In a May 2012 interview, Vidya made her relationship with Siddharth official and shared details of her dreamy proposal.

"When Siddharth proposed, I couldn't believe it initially. Since we were together, I knew we would talk about marriage at some stage. And then, he popped the question and did not even wait for a reply. It was taken for granted! I could have gone on living without marriage, but I do not believe in live-in relationships because it may be difficult when you want a child. When he proposed, I was like, 'Okay, so now we need to talk about it'," Vidya Balan told.

Vidya and Siddharth had to endure their own challenges before taking their relationship to the next level. Siddharth, being a two-time divorcee, raised concerns among Vidya's family about her decision to marry him and also Vidya at the peak of her career at that time. Despite these reservations, the couple managed to overcome the obstacles and tied the knot on December 14, 2012. They took the plunge in an intimate wedding ceremony at a temple in Bandra, Mumbai.
