On Friday, Salman Khan was in Sharjah to inaugurate a store for Red Tape shoes in Safeer Mall, when a crowd of over 35,000 people mobbed him!

Says an eye-witness, "The store was to be inaugurated by Salman at 8.30 pm, but crowds started gathering from 4 pm itself so that they could catch a glimpse of their favourite star."

Salman reached the mall around 8 pm but was unable to enter because a large crowd had blocked the entrance.

Says the eye-witness, "He was finally ushered in through a back door and taken to the store, which is on the first level of the mall. He was advised by the security to leave immediately after the formalities were through as the crowd was getting frenzied. When he was making his way out, the crowd outside mobbed him. The elevators were jammed and the crowd even broke down the store's shutters just to get a glimpse of him.

Even after Salman left, several people refused to believe this and a fight broke out in which several people were injured."

Showing their love!

Apparently, the situation got so out of hand that the mall security had no option but to get aggressive with the hysterical crowd. "Several people were knocked down and the security had to intervene.

According to reports in a local paper, the media was not spared either, as the security showered blows on them too. Showing their identity cards didn't cut any ice either as the staff simply refused to hear them out. Finally, Sharjah police had to be called in to manage the situation."

Govinda, who is currently shooting with Salman in Dubai for David Dhawan's Partner, confirms the incident, saying, "Though I didn't go to the mall, I heard that a huge mob had gathered and something had gone wrong. I was told there was a crowd of 70,000 people there. It became such a problem that they had to call the police and use teargas to disperse the crowd. Salman ko bahut pyar mila apne fans se."

Salman's brother Sohail adds, "Nothing happened to Salman; he wasn't hurt at all. There was a huge crowd and he did get mobbed, but they were just fans who had come there to see bhai (Salman) and show their love for him."
