As time draws near for the Information and Broadcasting Ministry Ambika Soni to announce the winners of the National Awards for 2007, news erupted that Bollywood superstars Aamir Khan and Shahrukh Khan are in the contention for the Best Actor Award.

It is said that Shahrukh has been nominated for his role in the film Chak De India while Aamir has been nominated for his performance in Taare Zameen Par. Meanwhile, Aamir's film Taare Zameen Par is also running for the Best Film award. Another news is doing the rounds that Darsheel Safari is being considered for the Best child actor award for his role as the dyslexic Ishaan Awasthi in Taare Zameen Par.

Shahrukh's film Om Shanti Om has been nominated for the best feature film. It maybe recalled that Aamir won this award in 2001 for his film Lagaan. But both the actors have not won the prestigious National Award in spite of bringing out many hits.

I&B Minister Ambika Soni is expected to announce the National Awards winners next week and President Pratibha Patil will confer the awards in October.
