Ranveer Singh was the first choice for Shaitan

Band Baaja Baaraat's star debutant Ranveer Singh was the first choice for Bijoy Nambiar's Shaitan. Reportedly, Ranveer, then a struggling actor, was considered for the role of 'KC' in Shaitan. However, Ranveer backed-off as the character was very wild and sexually explicit.

Ranveer preferred not to do the role in Shaitan as he did not want his debut role to be such a bold character. It is also reported that his family had some reservations regarding the character. Director Bijoy was so impressed by his performance during the screen test that he immediately decided to cast him in the film. He loved Ranveer's energy and spontaneity in front of the camera.

But when Ranveer rejected the offer, Gulshan Devaiah stepped in for the role. Ranveer was very lucky to get Band Baaja Baaraat after rejecting such a big offer from Anurag Kashyap's film.
