Stating that all misunderstandings are created by the media, Abhinav Singh Kashyap, in an interview with TOI said, "All the misunderstanding was created by the media. There was no war of words between Salman and me. We know how things work in the film industry and I didn't want to keep doing the same franchise of the film because the previous one worked at the BO. As a director and a creative person, there are a lot of things on my mind that I want to work with. And that's what I am doing now."
Anurag Kashyap also feels that when a movie does well, the actor usually gets most of the credit. However, if the film bombs at the box office, the director has to take the place. Anurag feels that it is because directors are easy targets and it is easier to write off a director as compared to an actor. He said, "Actors do far more films a year than a director, they are more visible in the media and the media needs them too. So no one writes them off easily."
