OMG: Did Shahrukh Khan Exaggerate Chennai Express' Box Office Figures?

According to gossip mongers, Shahrukh Khan might have exaggerated the figures of his blockbuster film Chennai Express, directed by Rohit Shetty. SRK and the filmmakers had claimed that the film has raked in a moolah of nearly Rs. 250 crores. The buzz in tinselville is that the numbers have been inflated in order to beat Aamir Khan starrer 3 Idiots record.

The audience went 'bonkus' seeing Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone romance in Chennai Express. Soon, report of the film crossing the 3 Idiots figures began doing the rounds. Now, insiders claim that the film managed to collect not more than Rs. 205 crores. SRK then reportedly added Rs. 5 crores made from Chennai Express in Tamil to this figure.

Aamir Khan's 3 Idiots had raked in Rs. 190 crores over a period of four months, and the buzz is that Shahrukh Khan was keen to break that record. Apparently, the production company too lied about the figures and soon, the buzz in the town was that Chennai Express made a whooping amount of Rs. 250 crores at the box office!

It was also rumoured that Shahrukh Khan was not too pleased when Rakesh Roshan went on print claiming that Krrish 3 has grossed more than Rs. 500 crores.

Now, how much of this is true is not known. All that we know for now is that Chennai Express managed to set a record for sure!
