The estranged relationship of Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan is often in the headlines. The last movie they did together was Muqaddar Ka Sikandar. But did you know why the duo didn't work together after that movie? Well of course, owing to the ultimatum given by Jaya Bachchan!
But, what made Jaya give the ultimatum to Amitabh, will surely leave you speechless! As per a Stardust report, Rekha had revealed how angry Jaya was after the trial screening of Muqaddar Ka Sikandar.

Trial Show Of Muqaddar Ka Sikandar
Rekha told Stardust, "Once I was looking at the whole (Bachchan) family through the projection room when they came to see the trial show of Muqaddar Ka Sikandar."
Jaya Was Crying During Rekha-Amitabh's Love Scenes
"Jaya was sitting in the front row and he (Amitabh) and his parents were in the row behind her. They couldn't see her as clearly as I could. And during our love scenes, I could see tears pouring down her face."
Amitabh To Never Work With Rekha
"A week later (after the trial show of Muqaddar Ka Sikandar), everybody in the industry was telling me that he has made it clear to his producers that he was not going to work with me."
Amitabh's Reply To Rekha
"Everybody else informed me about it but he didn't say a word on the subject. When I tried to question him about it, he said, ‘I am not going to say a word. Don't ask me about it'."
Poor Jaya
However, it's not the first time, that Rekha has made Jaya Bachchan cry! Reportedly, even during the wedding of Rishi-Neetu Kapoor, Rekha's closeness to Big B had hurt Jaya Bachchan, leaving her in tears.

According to a report in Stardust, "Jaya tried to keep a stoic front for a long time, but eventually she had to bend her head and let the tears roll down."
Rekha's Clarification
Later, in an interview, she cleared the air by saying that night, she had come to the wedding straight from a shoot. The sindoor and mangalsutra she was wearing, were a part of her get-up for a film, which she had forgotten to remove.
"It's Fashionable To Wear Sindoor"
Interestingly, according to a report published in 1982, at a National Awards function, when Rekha was asked by the then president Neelam Sanjiva Reddy, "Why do you have sindoor in your maang?" Rekha replied into the mike, "In the city I come from, it's fashionable to wear sindoor."
Do Anjaane
It is said that Rekha-Amitabh's love started on the sets of the film Do Anjaane. Amitabh and Rekha have done many films together including Khoon Pasina, Ganga Ki Saugandh, Suhaag, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar, Ram Balram, Mr. Natwarlal and Silsila.
Not So Happy Love Story
It is to be believed that when Amitabh and Rekha decided to split, it was the end of one of the most passionate love affairs both on and off screen.
In 2014, at the 20th Annual Screen Awards, Amitabh Bachchan was photographed greeting actress Rekha with a 'namaste'. In fact, even Jaya Bachchan too, was spotted bonding with the yesteryear queen at the event.
The on-screen and the alleged off-screen chemistry between Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan was much talked about in gossip circles in the 80's and the media had fun cooking up stories of their romance and how they remained in touch even after their alleged split.
That was when Big B got upset and decided not to give the media an opportunity to 'cook up' baseless rumours. Since then, the two have remained silent and maintained a safe distance!
