Jolly LLB

Directed by Subhash Kapoor, Jolly LLB is one of the most realistic films depicting the courtroom session. Considering that comic veteran Boman Irani and Arshad Warsi are the lead stars, one would expect a comic caper that would make you giggle uncontrollably throughout the film. However, that's not the case!

Jolly LLB is actually a serious film with plenty of comic, witty and satirical dialogues and situations that seems 'straight out of life'. And to do justice to the script, Boman Irani and Arshad Warsi have left no stones unturned by their brilliant performance. 'Appeal' spelled as 'apple' and Jolly telling Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists he's Maskhar-e-Taiba is all presented in a very comic fashion. The courtroom scenes between Jolly (Arshad Warsi) and Rajpal (Boman Irani) and shots between Rajpal and judge Tripathi (Saurabh Shukla) makes you burst out with laughter, and also at the same time depicts the sad plight of our government institutions and highlights the challenges and struggles that a common man have to face on a regular basis.

Extending not more than 2 hours and 10 minutes, Jolly LLB gives a very clear picture of the 'real courtroom' in the country and this is perhaps the first time that any filmmaker has presented the courtroom as it is!

Story

Jagdish Tyagi aka Jolly (Arshad Warsi) is an advocate from Meerut who arrives in New Delhi with the desire to get hold of a case that would make him rich and famous instantly. Jolly is lucky to get get involved in a case that pitches him against one of the best lawyers in the country - Rajpal (Boman Irani). What happens next is what Jolly LLB is all about.

Performances

Performances of the lead actors (Boman Irani, Arshad Warsi and Saurabh Ganguly Drama) can be described in only two words - Simply outstanding! Arshad has shown time and again in the past that he can act very well, This times, he ascertains himself as a performer and proves that he can do a great job even in handling dramatic scenes. Boman Irani once again proves his credentials and proves he can carry a film firmly on his shoulders alone. Amrita Rao has nothing much to do, but still does a decent job of the role offered to her. Saurabh Shukla is incredible and is the show stealer in many scenes. All other actors, especially Manoj Pahwa have done a great job.

Verdict

Watch Jolly LLB to get a glimpse of the 'real' judiciary system in the country. It's a nice film!
