After facing several problems, Shahid-Sonam Kapoor starrer movie Mausam has hit the screens across the globe. Director Pankaj Kapoor's most ambitious film is a nice blend of mass masala. But the movie can not be called an exceptional film from Pankaj, who has become household name in India with his wonderful acting.
Mausam is basically a love story that is set in the backdrop of political hostilities and religious conflict. The biggest strength of story of the movie, which begins in the early 1990s, is that it encompasses several historical events like displacement of Kashmiri Pandits, Babri Masjid episode, Mumbai blasts, 9/11, Kargil war and Gujarat riots that affected the lives of common man. Somewhere, including all these stuffs itself becomes bane for the film. The pre-release hype of the movie had created an expectation that it would be a mesmeric love story, but its weak script and unengaging screenplay mar the efforts of the director. In a bid to include all above mentioned epic moments, Pankaj keeps moving from city to city and that is where Mausam becomes a never-ending saga.
