New Delhi (UNI): The historic Purana Qila (old fort) was witness to an 'out-of-the-world' experience last night. For close to an hour and a half, an audience, comprising politicians, socialites and Generation X, was treated to a scintillating spectacle of rhythmic 'sound and light' movements through the atmospheric space in the backdrop of the fort.

The occasion was the launch of India's first Ambient music label Dada Music, with Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar the chief guest. Also gracing the event, compered by Shivani Wazir Pasricha, were celebrities from the world of politics, business as well as the media Marking the launch of the label, aimed at showcasing the abstract creativity of the modern day musician to explore new dimensions in music, was a brilliant performance by artist Satyananda whose album 'Internal Activities' is the first to be brought out under Dada Music. The 'rhythmic movement of sounds' characterizing Satyananda's music was accompanied by a fascinating holographic laser show, which transported the viewers into an "illusory world".

The magnificence and the "illusory experience" seemed to have left even the otherwise phlegmatic Akshay moved. ''The scintillating sound and light show had a soothing effect on my soul and, I believe, it had the same effect on most of the people gathered here,'' Akshay said after the show. "Infact, I have never seen such a "stillness" and "pin drop silence" among the audience watching any of my films,' Akshay added tongue-in-cheek.

Dada music, the brainchild of Ankur Puri, the son of Mr Arun Purie, brings to the Indian sub-continent the best ambient sounds from across the globe. The Dada movement, which began in Zurich, Switzerland during World War I and peaked from 1916 to 1920, was a revolutionary movement where creativity defied conventional art forms, thereby making way for articulation of individual expression.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Bawa Mohit Singh, the product manager of Dada Music, said,''the new ambient sound aims to become the sound of the future, which will broaden and re-define the sound and technology in music.'' Among the first of the Dada Music releases are a well-balanced mesh of ambient albums from top line musicians of the genre from across the globe as well as albums by young musicians from India.
