The Mumbai media is agog with speculation about cricketers Brian Lara and Sachin Tendulkar acting in Viveck Vaswani's new film Dulha Mil Gaya, directed by Mudassar Aziz. The news-report also states that Viveck has signed Sushmita Sen for a pivotal role. What's the truth?
In a mail to this writer, Viveck, who has been touring the Caribbean since the past two weeks, has decided to put the matters in the right perspective.
"It is true that I am in the process of negotiating with the Tourism Development Company in Trinidad and Tobago to shoot two feature films in the Caribbean, in Trinidad and Tobago. But it is not true that Brian Lara will be acting in my film. He plays cricket, he does not act.
"Mudassar has written Zindaggi Rocks, starring Sushmita Sen, and he would very much like her to be a part of his first film as a director. I have always wanted to cast her. However, I have NOT spoken to her yet and I will only do so once I have a working arrangement on the films with the Governments of Trinidad and Tobago.
"I would like to move fast and do a world premiere in the Caribbean during the World Cup next year. However, will only know after negotiations are successful."
