Soon
after
the
release
of
Phir
Hera
Pheri,
a
jubilant
producer
Firoz
A.
Nadiadwala
had
confirmed
to
this
writer
that
he
was
planning
to
go
ahead
with
the
third
installment
of
Hera
Pheri.
Although
the
third
installment
is
untitled
yet,
the
enterprising
producer
did
reveal
that
Neeraj
Vora,
who
had
scripted
and
directed
Phir
Hera
Pheri,
would
direct
Hera
Pheri
III
as
well.
But Neeraj Vora has decided not to direct the third installment.
Speaking to this writer from London -- Neeraj has accompanied director Priyadarshan for the shooting of Bhagam Bhag -- Neeraj confided that he wants to go beyond the Hera Pheri series and explore newer horizons [scripts]. "No point getting repetitive. I don't want the third part to look monotonous, so I've decided not to script or direct it," the talented writer-director confides.
Does that mean he has closed doors on film direction and has taken to writing all over again? "Writing is a passion and I can never call it quits. But I've signed two films as director, for Balaji [Ekta Kapoor] and Ashtavinayak [Dhilin Mehta]. In fact, I am in the midst of completing the script of Balaji's film, which should roll first," he reveals.
So what happens to Hera Pheri III? "I guess, the producer will have to opt for a new director and writer. It's better that way. A new person would come in with fresh ideas and might give a new twist to the escapades of Raju, Shyam and Baburao. I was involved as the writer in Hera Pheri, then as the writer-director of Phir Hera Pheri. It's time for me to move on," he says.
Talking of Phir Hera Pheri, Neeraj attributes its success to his father's blessings, who passed away a few days before its release. "I always knew Phir Hera Pheri would click at the ticket window, but the magnitude of business has taken me by complete surprise. I never expected it to be such a major success, frankly. I think it's my father's blessings that did it," he gets emotional at this point.
