Varanasi
(UNI):
Charging
Rakhi
Sawant
and
Meghna
Naidu
with
promoting
'obscenity'
in
the
name
of
art,
actor
and
Lok
Sabha
MP
Raj
Babbar
today
called
upon
Bollywood
to
check
the
''indecent
acts''
of
the
two
item
girls.
Talking
to
mediapersons
here,
Babbar,
taking
strong
exception
of
the
raunchy
performances
of
Rakhi
and
Meghna,
maintained
such
acts
promoted
''obscenity.''
''Bollywood
beauties
from
Nargis
and
Madhubala
to
Madhuri
Dixit
and
Rani
Mukherjee
are
known
for
their
acting
skills,
but
the
antics
of
the
so
called
item
girls
have
promoted
obscenity
and
given
a
bad
name
to
Bollywood,
besides
undermining
rich
Indian
culture,''
Babbar
observed.
The
Agra
MP
maintained
being
a
representative
of
film
industry,
it
was
his
duty
to
take
a
critical
note
of
such
developments.
''The
Bollywood
fraternity
should
come
forward
to
check
such
acts,
which
were
only
aimed
at
gaining
cheap
publicity.''
''Yeh
hum
sub
film
industry
ke
logon
ki
jimmedari
banti
hai
ki
hum
Rakhi
aur
Meghna
jaiso
ko
unki
hud
mein
rehne
ke
liye
kahe''
(It
is
the
duty
of
film
industry
to
tell
both
to
stay
in
their
limits).
Babbar,
however,
refused
comment
when
queried
over
the
recent
'kissing
controversy'
involving
Rakhi
Sawant
and
singer
Mika,
saying
such
episodes
do
not
deserve
any
comment.
Over
the
issue
of
his
former
party
Samajwadi
Party
protests
over
Income
Tax
Department
notice
to
superstar
Amitabh
Bachchan,
the
Jan
Dal
convenor
said
in
the
past,
not
only
IT
notices
were
served
to
Bollywood
personalities,
but
raids
were
conducted
at
their
residences.
''Instead
of
taking
the
route
of
abusive
and
violent
protests,
those
claiming
to
be
well-wishers
of
the
Bachchan
family
should
take
the
legal
route,'' he
added.
Protests
over
the
issue
and
that
too
guided
by
people
like
SP
leader
Amar
Singh
amounted
to
''political
terrorism''
and
that
too
to
undermine
the
sanctity
of
government
offices,
Mr
Babbar
reasoned.
