Mumbai (UNI): Controversial item girl Rakhi Sawant tonight alleged that the Maharashtra government was "trying to snatch her bread and butter by imposing a ban on her stage shows". Talking to mediapersons here, Rakhi, who was performing in a series of shows across Maharashtra for a beer company, said the shows were the means of her livelihood. Earlier, the Aurangabad police had banned her shows and in Sangli and Kolhapur, cases were registered against rakhi for her ''objectionable'' outfits. Also in Nanded, the police had to resort to lathicharge on the spectators.

Rakhi claimed that she has a huge fan base, with about 20-25,000 people attending her shows. When asked whether her ''objectionable dressing'' was the reason behind the ban, she quipped that "whatever manner I dress, people are bound to criticise it". On the Mikia Singh episode, she said he should apologise to her or else the National Commission of Women (NCW) will force him to send her an apology.
