Everyone knows how much Amisha Patel adores her grandmother, Sushila Patel Gokhale.

Every year she drives down to Pune to celebrate her grandmom's birthday (June 26) - only this time it will be an exception.

Amisha will drive down to Pune and bring her grandmom back to Mumbai to celebrate her birthday.

Birthday planner

Says Amisha, "For the last few years my friends and I have been going down to Pune taking flowers, cakes and balloons with us and celebrating my grandmother's birthday there.

We spoil her with food, gifts, dance, laugh, play music and joke but this year I decided to have something different for her."

Why Mumbai this time? "She's in Pune throughout the year. Mumbai will be a mini vacation for her. So today I am going to fetch her from Pune and in the evening I have arranged a surprise dinner for her. I am also planning another dinner for her tomorrow night too as I want her to have a really good time."

Amisha has planned two rich cakes for her grandmother to cut. "She loves chocolates and mangoes so I have ordered a Ferro Roche chocolate cake and a mango cheesecake from Nita's at Bandra. I want her to cut both the cakes."

Gran bonding

Amisha says that the three things she has learnt from her grandmother is "Honesty in any situation, to believe in yourself and to have self respect."

What's the most special gift she has received from her grandmother? "Her love, blessings and values, which are priceless.

She has kept me going through the toughest of times and been a continuous source of support and solidarity to me. In terms of materialistic gifts last Diwali she gave me the most beautiful pair of diamond earrings. She spoils me rotten. To me she's a living legend and a role model."

Amisha says, "Grandmother says that she can count on me more than her sons. That's the best compliment I could receive," signs off Amisha who is currently dubbing for Priyadarshan's Bhul Bhulaiya.
