Makrand Deshpande says, "The film is an adaptation of my Hindi play Ek Kadam Aagey which is one of his longest running and successful plays. This play has a mass appeal. It's a timeless play so I felt that this play can be transformed into a film". Makrand used to be the lead actor in the play but in the film, Kay Kay Menon will play the title role.
He further adds, "I haven't finalized anyone except Kay Kay Menon for the film. Kay Kay is one of the most talented actors in the industry. He is one of the pioneers of my theatre group, so when it came to making a film, I couldn't think anyone but Kay Kay. I needed a charming man like him."
Makrand is recording the first song of his film today at Octavius Recording Studio. Speaking about the same he says, "We are recording the title track today, which has been sung by Kunal Ganjawala. It's composed by Shailendra Barve who was a music director of the play as well. The film has three songs and the lyrics are written by me. The film will go on floors in April. Hopefully I'll release this film in August"
