Mumbai, (UNI): Reliance Entertainment, an arm of private sector behemoth Reliance ADA group launched a 100 million dollar online movie website, Bigflicks.com here today.

Aimed mainly at the NRI and diaspora markets, the site will offer an option for 'download to own', 'download to rent' at two dollars 15 dollars or free streaming and subscription services.

More than 1,000 movie titles, music and entertainment in Hindi, English and vernacular languages have been committed on a revenue sharing-basis. Reliance Entertainment has also roped in top global players Entriq for content protection and Limelight Networks for content delivery network.

''About 25 million NRIs, students and professionals live overseas. This is a large but very fragmented audience. By releasing a new movie on the internet, we are confident of marginalizing piracy by offering a legal alternative at compelling price points,'' said Bigflicks.com COO Kamal Gianchandani.

For desi movie buffs, a chain of 5,000 retail outlets in 50 cities within three years have been planned, with the first batch being opened in Hyderabad, Chandigarh and Pune.

The total investment for the website and its supplementary projects is to be spread over five years.
