Actor Sanjay Dutt is just out on bail after a special court sentenced him to six years imprisonment for possessing 9 mm pistol and AK-56. Now, another 'Bollywood bad boy' Salman Khan's turn seems to have come. He is living on the edge at the moment, as a session"s court in Jodhpur will give out its verdict on the appeal by the actor against the five-year jail term meted to him in April 2006 in the Chinkara poaching case.
Salman had spent three days in the Jodhpur Central Jail for shooting a Chinkara in 1998 while shooting for the film Hum Saath Saath Hain. If convicted, he could be imprisoned for five years. However, there are chances he gets lesser sentence or even gets scott free.
The actor's lawyer is very confident that the actor will come out victorious, arguing that the key eye witness in the case Harish Dulani went absconding ever since giving his testimony. Moreover, the case registered under the Wildlife Protection Act was filed by the police and not the forest department officials.
On the other hand, the Bishnoi community of Rajasthan wants the actor to be punished because they regard the Chinkara as a sacred animal.
Well, the verdict on this case can go any way. Will the actor land behind the bars or be freed? This is a million dollar question indeed! So, keep waiting and we'll keep you informed.
