Ever
since
she
shot
to
fame
from
the
sets
of
reality
TV
show
Celebrity
Big
Brother,
Shilpa
Shetty's
brand
equity,
at
least
in
the
UK,
has
grown
by
leaps
and
bounds;
so
much
so
that
Shilpa
is
charging
in
the
vicinity
of
20,000
pounds
even
for
a
chat
with
a
newspaper.
Journalist
Henry
Deedes
of
London's
Independent
newspaper
cites
an
instance
when
to
kick-start
the
three-month-long
celebration
of
Indian
culture
at
an
event
called
'India
Now',
a
sari-clad
Shilpa
posed
alongwith
London
Mayor
Ken
Livingston,
its
organisers
informed
the
journalists
that
a
chat
with
Shilpa
would
cost
their
respective
publications
nearly
20,000
pounds
each.
Henry
avers
that
despite
her
Big
Brother
success
and
international
publicity
over
that
infamous
Ronaldo
kiss,
Shilpa
is
hardly
a
household
name
in
Britain
to
be
charging
such
a
hefty
amount
for
an
interview.
On
persistent
queries,
the
organisers
of
the
show
reiterated
that
that
was
the
usual
sort
of
fee
she'd
asked
for,
although
there
was
always
a
room
for
negotiation.
