Ramesh
Taurani's
plan
to
remake
Amar
Akbar
Anthony
with
the
Khan
brothers
Salman,
Sohail
and
Arbaaz
has
run
into
rough
weather.
Launched
in
2006,
it
appears
that
it
has
been
shelved.
Says
an
industry
source,
"TIPS
announced
the
launch
of
Manmohan
Desai's
remake
of
Amar
Akbar
Anthony
in
2006
but
till
now,
the
film
hasn't
made
progress.
It
was
to
start
in
2009
but
now
the
Khan
brothers
and
David
have
taken
a
decision
to
shelve
the
film.
The
decision
was
taken
after
God
Tussi
Great
Ho
released.
Since
God
Tussi
didn't
do
well
both
thought
the
audience
might
not
like
the
Khan
brothers
again
as
it
would
be
a
case
of
over
exposure.
David
Dhawan
too
doesn't
have
dates
till
next
year.
He
is
also
busy
with
the
launch
of
his
production
house
and
his
son's
career."
The
source
adds,
"The
film
ran
into
problems
last
year
too
with
Salman
making
it
clear
that
he
no
longer
wants
to
be
part
of
it
as
he
was
not
happy
with
the
role
of
Anthony.
Salman
was
playing
Amitabh's
role
while
Arbaaz
was
playing
Amar
(Vinod
Khanna)
and
Sohail
was
playing
Akbar
(Rishi
Kapoor).
Salman's
girlfriend
Katrina
Kaif
was
slotted
to
play
the
role
done
by
Parveen
Babi
in
the
original.
The
decision
to
shelve
Amar
Akbar
Anthony
was
taken
a
few
days
ago
but
Sohail
and
Taurani
have
decided
not
to
announce
it
right
now
as
Taurani
wants
the
schedule
of
his
next
film
Ajab
Prem
Ki
Gajab
Kahani
which
is
being
shot
in
Ooty
to
be
completed
smoothly."
They
say
it's
on!
Ramesh
Taurani:
"Amar
Akbar
Anthony
hasn't
been
shelved.
We
will
start
shooting
in
early
2009."
Sohail
Khan:
"It's
not
true
that
we
have
shelved
the
film
as
we
brothers
didn't
want
to
act
together.
Amar
Akbar
Anthony
will
start
by
the
end
of
next
year."
