All
those
who
wish
that
Deepika
Padukone
had
followed
in
her
dad's
footsteps
and
become
a
badminton
player,
might
just
get
the
chance
to
watch
her
on
the
court
today
at
Bombay
Gymkhana.
The
event
is
the
national
level
badminton
tournament
which
happens
every
year
and
Prakash
Padukone
is
one
of
the
main
organisers.
Deepika
adds,
"It
normally
takes
place
in
Bangalore
but
this
year
they
decided
to
have
it
in
Mumbai
as
badminton
is
picking
up
in
a
major
way,
nationally
and
internationally.
Top
players
from
all
over
India
attend
this
tournament.
I
have
been
part
of
many
such
tournaments
in
Bangalore
and
have
not
just
attended
but
even
played
in
some
of
them.
I
am
there
for
dad
who
has
contributed
a
lot
to
the
game
of
badminton." The
event
is
being
sponsored
by
the
Tatas.
Fun
game
The
actress
who
played
state
level
badminton
till
standard
10,
says
she
misses
playing
badminton.
"Whenever
I
get
some
time,
I
go
to
Khar
Gymkhana
and
indulge
in
a
bit
of
badminton
with
my
friends
to
keep
in
touch
with
the
game.
I
can't
be
a
part
of
the
competition
as
it's
the
finals
today
but
I
might
just
play
a
fun
game
with
dad." Deepika's
mom
is
in
Mumbai
for
the
event.
Deepika
reveals
that
her
dad
isn't
disappointed
with
her
career
choice,
"Dad
is
very
proud
that
I
have
achieved
whatever
I
have
in
my
own
right.
Both
my
parents
are
very
proud
of
me
and
have
always
supported
me
in
whatever
I
have
done.
If
I
am
successful
today,
it
is
because
of
them."
Recently,
Deepika,
who
is
a
Roger
Federer
fan,
watched
him
beat
Marat
Safin
at
the
Wimbledon
semis
and
also
saw
him
lose
at
the
finals
to
Rafael
Nadal.
But
Deepika
says
she
wasn't
disappointed.
"Both
Federer
and
Nadal
are
my
favourites
so
I
am
happy
one
of
them
won."
