Gandhi, Hitler in Hail Hitler

By Staff

Mahatma Gandhi and German dictator Adolf Hitler are personalities who're totally different from each other. But interestingly debutante filmmaker Rakesh Ranjan has come up with the strange idea of bringing them together.

He so greatly inspired by the two that he's making a film called Hail Hitler. He informs, "Everyone has heard about Hitler, but no one knows his human side, personality and how he supported the Indian army. So I just want to present the old forgotten history about Hitler to Indians."

The film goes on the floors in January with a budget of Rs 1 crore. The makers insist that it's not the intention. He adds, "We are not going to pass any controversial statements. Our story is well researched. We are not going to add anything new. But then again, India is democracy where any one can raise an objection. So I feel the Left wing may have a problem because they were against the communists."

Apparently the makers just want to bring out the contrast in ideologies. Producer and scriptwriter Nalin Singh says, "We are talking about the two greatest personalities of that era, the 1940s. The whole world was watching Mahatma Gandhi and Hitler. So I am bringing out the contrast in ideologies."

There have been good movies made on the father of the nation like Gandhi, Maine Gandhi Ko Nahi Mara, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, as well lots of international projects on Hitler too. Actors like Ashutosh Rana, Neha Dhupia, Vinay Pathak, Anupam Kher and Pankaj Kapur have been approached for the project.

Wonder how real and interesting this movie turns out to be!
