Republic Day jam bound to happen

The Republic Day weekend has suddenly caught the fancy of film people. And the Republic Day weekend in 2009 is being eyed for more reasons than one. This would be a 4-day weekend (26th January happens to be a Monday). Also, the general feeling is that post Christmas festivities and New Year celebrations, the common man is back to work for the next couple of weeks and awaits the next big break during the Republic Day holiday. Therefore, the business shows a jump during this weekend.

Right now, two movies have been confirmed for the Republic Day weekend: Anil Kapoor's Shortkut and Mukesh Bhatt's Raaz - The Mystery Continues. Right now, Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra's Delli 6 is also confirmed for January 23 (Rang De Basanti was also released during this weekend), but if the film goes to Berlin Film Festival, only then will UTV shift its release to February.

And if at all Delli 6 is pushed to February, UTV has plans of bringing Main Aur Mrs. Khanna (now confirmed for February 13) on January 23. So, in any case, there will be three biggies ready to explode on the big screen on January 23.
