Akshay arrested for unbuttoning act

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar was arrested on Monday morning by Vakola Police Station in connection with his Unbuttoning Act during the Lakme Fashion Week in March. Akshay had asked his wife Twinkle Khanna to unbutton his pant when he walked the ramp for noted designer Tarun Talhani. Akshay who is the brand ambassador for Levis 'Unbuttoned' jeans was trying to promote the brand.

The incident had created a huge amount of controversy after which Akshay had publicly apologised for it. But a social activist by the name of Anil Nair had filed the obscenity case against Akshay and his wife Twinkle Khanna with the Vakola Police Station. Twinkle was arrested in April in connection with the case and released on bail. Akshay was out of the country at that time.

Assistant Commissioner of Police, Arvind Mahadadi informed that Akshay was arrested on Monday morning after he returned to the country on Sunday night. Akshay who was accompanied by his lawyer later released on bail after paying the bond amount. Mahadadi added that the actor's act was bailable under section 294 of Indian Penal Code.
