This is an interesting development since earlier this David Dhawan directed laugh riot was all set to hit the screens on 2nd October. However, the release date has been pulled back by a week, hence leading to the competition.
Says a source from Big Pictures, "As of now it has been decided to pre-pone the film. 25th September appears to be the right date for the film to arrive."
Isn't the team of Do Knot Disturb wary of the fact that What's Your Raashee? is all set to arrive on 25th September while there are chances of three way competition from Jail and Rann as well?
"But then tell me any single Friday when there is no competition?", she questions back, "There are movies like Dil Bole Hadippa and Wanted on 18th September. On the other hand, Wake Up Sid is also coming on 2nd October. One can't think much about such things. And then on the Diwali weekend of 16th October too there are so many films lined up."
It seems unlikely though that all four films - Do Knot Disturb, What's Your Raashee?, Jail and Rann - would indeed clash with each other on 25th September. It would be nothing short of hara-kiri considering the fact that there are more than half a dozen films arriving in and around them.
Says a trade insider, "The producers are right in their own way when they come up with the release plans. However, it is the producers' committee which is going to take the final call on the release schedule. In any case there is question mark over so many other biggies of the year as well (3 Idiots, My Name Is Khan, Kites) and the final picture will emerge only as weeks progress. Nothing can be confirmed to be cast in stone before that."
With less than two months to go for 25th September, a quick decision should be the need of the situation considering the fact that every producer would require two months of intense promotion before his movie hits the screens!
The drama has just begun!
The situation continues to get murkier for Ashutosh Gowariker's What's Your Raashee? If competition from the likes of Jail (Madhur Bhandarkar) and Rann (Ram Gopal Varma) wasn't enough, there is more heart burn for Priyanka Chopra - Hurman Baweja starrer What's Your Raashee? That's because Vashu Bhagnani and Big Pictures have decided to bring their next film Do Knot Disturb on the same day as What's Your Raashee? i.e. 25th September.
