Happy Ending not remake of Romanian film

By Super Admin

Recently a Mumbai tabloid claimed that Anurag Kashayp's next starring his real life girl friend Kalki Koechlin is a remake of critically acclaimed and multi award winning Romanian film 4 Months 3 Weeks and 2 Days. But sources involved with the film claim it is not so.

Reveal sources, "The Romanian film was made in the post-communist new Romanian cinematic style. The movie was set in communist Romania and narrated the story of a young girl, who wants to undergo an abortion, but has to undergo all sorts of complications to be able to do that, in a repressed regime where abortion is illegal. But Happy Ending is nothing of that sorts."

“Perhaps the only similarity between the two movies may lie in the styling. It has a completely different storyline and can be called an alternate 90 minute film. It"s something completely different than what Anurag Kashyap has had attempted till date," sources add.

While 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days was been written and directed by Cristian Mungiu and starred Anamaria Marinca, Laura Vasiliu, Vlad Ivanov, and Alex Potocean, the cast and crew apart from Kalki Koechlin is yet to be finalised. The Romanian film was shown in Mumbai last year at the MAMI Film Festival.
