"Murali has directed several enjoyable entertainers in the past. I've always wanted to work with him some day. Plus, I wanted to sit on the backseat and let someone else call the shots," Indra Kumar tells me.
But, ironically, Murali has never ever directed a comic fare. So was the decision right? "I know him as a person and I've realized that his wisecracks are truly funny. Now when I look back, I realize Murali's done as good a job as I would've, had I directed Daddy Cool," the veteran states.
Meanwhile, the talented film-maker, who has directed a string of hits like Dil, Beta, Raja, Masti and Dhamaal, is ready to start work on his next film Dhamaal 2, which will star the original cast of the film Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi, Ritesh Deshmukh, Jaaved Jaaferi and Ashish Chowdhry. Besides, there's a love story in the pipeline, which will star daughter Shweta in the lead.
Since the time Indra Kumar turned director with Dil, he has directed all his films himself. The only exception is, of course, his next release Daddy Cool, which is helmed by K. Murali Mohan Rao.
