Mugdha Godse happy with Jail

From being a pretty young woman who was one of the three leads in Fashion, Mugdha Godse has now bagged a solo heroine lead in the film Jail. Also, from a gay husband (Sameer Soni) as a partner, she now has a straight guy (Neil Nitin Mukesh) playing her on screen boyfriend.

''I guess I can finally say that I have graduated,'' quips Mugdha with that characteristic laugh of hers, ''From being together with just a friend to a boyfriend is a good enough step for a young woman like me, isn't it? But yes, jokes apart, I am extremely happy that with Jail, I get to play a bona fide leading lady.''

Madhur Bhandarkar has repeated her from a woman oriented Fashion to Jail - a film that tells the tale of prison life. ''I am happy that he trusts me to play two diametrically different roles. It would also be nice to work with Neil. Youngsters have to keep making an impression in Bollywood and both of us are mighty kicked since we are just starting off.''

Things seem to be going in a positive direction for Mugdha though. 2009 has been great with the announcement of Jail and there are more on the anvil too. Question her about the other projects in the pipeline and she chooses her words carefully, ''Really, I don't want to make any noise before I sign on the dotted line. I had a hint for Jail as well but preferred to talk about it only after everything was sealed and locked.''

She has been high on the popularity charts though as the find of 2008. ''I have been meeting people daily before and after the release of Fashion but what's the point of spraying out pointers to friends and media till something concrete haven't happened. Sorry, but that's not my style of headline grabbing tactics.''
