Bollywood actor Shiney Ahuja pleaded for bail in the alleged rape case but the Mumbai police opposed it. The police argued that if granted bail Shiney might use his influence to intimidate the maid servant who has has accused him for raping her. The police also feared that Shiney might temper with the evidence to turn the case in his favour.

Shiney's lawyer Shrikant Shivade said that victim's story of the alleged rape seems highly doubtful and concocted. He argued that since the victim comes from the lower class which is known to be aggressive why didn't she resist if she was being raped. He added that the forensic tests conducted on Shiney's body do not talk of any injury marks on his body which is common in rape cases.

Shivde however agreed to have seen the medical report which state traces of semen were found in the vaginal smears collected by the doctors. He said the reports had proved sexual intercourse and they were not refuting it but strongly objected the allegation that the victim was raped. Interestingly two days earlier Shivde had said that his client never had consensual sex with the maid.
