Poonam Dhillon turns director

Poonam Dhillon is all to set to join the industry's select band of woman directors soon. She's writing a script and is in the process of finalising a producer for it. Talking about her plans, the actress says, "Yes, I do intend to direct a film soon and right now, I am working on the script with Ashwini Dheer."

The word in B-Town is that her businessman friend Sushil Wadhwani wants to produce it. However Poonam denies knowing anyone by that name, "I haven't finalised any producer as yet. I have a few options and will decide when the script is final." When asked if she'd approached her ex-husband, well-known producer Ashok Thakeria for help, she says a curt "No," expressing her disinclination to discuss the matter further.

About her film she says, "It's a fun, entertaining film with values for the youth and family. My own observations and experiences always contribute but it's more about what I see in today's youth." Apart from writing the script of her directorial debut, Poonam is also keeping herself busy with acting. She informs, "I just did an appearance in Yash Raj Films for the film with Shahid Kapoor and Rani Mukherjee. I am open to good roles specially since 13B got me lots of good feedback and was successful. I am also doing a TV serial with Sidharth Nagar and Kanwaljit."

Poonam and Ashok's son Anmol also plans on following his mother's craft acting. According to his mother, however, the time is not right, "Anmol is currently studying and is only 17 years old. It will be a few years before he acts in films. He is currently very interested in acting and is working hard both towards that and studies. So right now, no immediate launch plans."
