Rahul Bose is miffed at the way he has been promoted in Echo Lake Productions' Before The Rains, directed by Santosh Sivan. The film releases today (except in Mumbai and Pune). Though Rahul's the main lead in the film, his picture didn't appear on the hoardings and film posters till day before yesterday. Instead, the picture of American actor Linus Roache was used along with Nandita Das.

Rahul confirms, "I didn't mind them using Linus and Nandita's face in the US because they wanted to position the film as a love story but when they used the same picture in India as well, I was hopping mad! Normally, I have an image clause in all my contracts which states how exactly my image should be positioned but for Before The Rains I didn't, as the film was handled by my American manager and the producer was American too."

Rahul is however quick to assure us that now the issue has been sorted out. "After I spoke to them, I realised that their intentions were not vindictive. They told me that these were the only artworks available. Now they have released posters with my solo pictures."

Co-producer Mubina Ratton-say says, "Yes, there were a few issues and they have been well sorted out. We, collectively, are extremely proud and happy, the film being an English language art-house film has done well in the US and now, has seen the light of day in India." Santosh Sivan says, "It was just a case of miscommunication. Rahul is a dear friend of mine and I wouldn't want him to feel bad. These things happen sometimes."
