Sanjay Dutt booked for communal speech

Bollywood star and Samajwadi Party General Secretary Sanjay Dutt has been booked by the Election Commission for violating the election model code of conduct. Sanjay had delivered a communal speech during an election rally in UP. He was campaigning in the Ghosi parliamentary seat in the Mau district of UP for Samajwadi Party candidate Arshad Jamal Ansari.

Sanjay alleged that he was booked under TADA and tortured under the third degree after the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts as was the son of a Muslim mother (actress Nargis). It may be recalled that Sanjay Dutt was arrested and put behind bars for 18 months after he was found in possession of an AK-56 assault rifle which he had got from the Mumbai underworld.

Mau district police chief Ram Bharose has confirmed that a case has been registered against Sanjay after the district admiration saw the tape of his speech during the rally. He also said that the tapes have been forwarded to the State Election Commission for further investigation. Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh and MP Jaya Bachchan were also present at the rally.
