Shiney's custody ends, charge sheeted

Bollywood actor Shiney Ahuja accused of raping his maid servant will be produced before Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate as his 14 day judicial custody expires. Meanwhile, Mumbai Police has filed a 109-page charge sheet against the Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi actor charging him with rape, wrongful confinement and threatening his maidservant on June 14 as his residence.

The charge sheet contains medical and forensic reports of the girl and Shiney and the statements of the witnesses, including those who helped the maid to file a complaint at the Oshiwara police station. The police also recorded the statement of the victim before the magistrate which they believe has strengthen their case.

Shiney's lawyer Srikant Shivade has been appealing for a bail but the sessions court has rejected the bail pleas, saying there was prima facie evidence to show that a serious offence had been committed. He has been booked for rape under Section 376 and also charged under Section 339 for wrongful restraint and Section 506 for threatening another person.

Shiney Ahuja was arrested by the by the police on June 15 a day after the incident after the girl had filed a complaint with the Oshiwara police station. Shiney had accepted to having had sex with the girl but claims it was with her consent. The National Commission for Women has demanded for a speedy trial and justice for the victim.
