Indian

proud
to
be
an
Indian
and
so
does
Bollywood
actor
Akshay
Kumar.
This
year,
the
actor
celebrated
his
moment
of
pride
with
thousands
of
Indo-Canadians
at
the
Dundas
Square
in
Canada.
The
Khiladi
of
Bollywood
attended
the
India
Day
parade
there,
which
was
organized
in
Canada
in
the
evening
on
August
15
Indian
Independence
Day.
The
43-year
old
actor
also
happens
to
be
the
Canadian
Tourism
Commission"s
Ambassador
to
India.
His
participation
in
the
event
added
some
star
power
and
audience
started
assembling
at
the
venue
since
early
morning
to
get
a
glimpse
of
actor.
Akshay
highly
applauded
the
contributions
of
the
Indo-Canadians
to
the
country.
Akshay
said
that
the
people
with
origin
in
India
can
look
forward
to
have
a
country
filled
with
hope
and
accomplishments
rather
than
just
looking
back
to
the
history
with
pride.
The
actor
was
also
one
of
the
14
international
torchbearers
during
the
Vancouver
2010
Winter
Olympics.
Preeti
Saran,
Consulate
General
of
India
hoisted
the
Indian
tri-color
and
the
crowd
gathered
sang
the
national
anthems
of
both
the
countries,
India
and
Canada.
The
day-long
event
was
attended
by
a
dozen
of
floats
from
different
Indian
states
like
Karnataka,
Goa,
Rajasthan,
Orissa,
and
Kerala.
The
greetings
of
Canadian
Prime
Minister
Stephen
Harper
and
High
Commissioner
for
India
S.
M.
Gavai
were
read
during
the
event.
