Producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra has apologised for bursting out at the media during a press conference on his latest film 3 Idiots, which has grossed over Rs 100 crore in the first four days. The Bollywood producer lost his cool when asked about Chetan Bhagat's claim and asked a reporter to shut up.
During the press conference of 3 Idiots on Friday in Noida, a journalist asked whether 70 per cent of the film was taken from Chetan Bhagat's book. Chopra asked him back whether he had seen the movie and read the book. The jurno replied that he had seen 3 Idiots, but not read the book 'Five Point Someone'. Then Chopra got up and shouted: "Then you shut up. When you have not read the book, then how can you say that the movie is 70 per cent of the book?"
Later, speaking at a hotel in Noida, Vidhu Vinod Chopra apologised for lashing out at the media. He said that he was provoked into adverse comments. What he did was silly and he was extremely ashamed of his outburst. He would never want to meet Chetan Bhagat again. He had already given him the money.
However, the press conference was held to clear the controversial claims of Chetan Bhagat, the author of the book 'Five Point Someone'. The producer and actors said it was nothing but cheap publicity. 3 Idiots director Rajkumar Hirani, stars Aamir Khan, R Madhavan, Sharman Joshi and Kareena Kapoor were present on the press meet.
