Mr. Thackeray: “My Name Is Khan”

By By: Subhadeep Bhattacharjee

That's exactly the message Shahrukh Khan's fans seems to have given to Bal Thackeray and his son Uddhav Thackeray. This after their Shiv Sena had called for a public boycott of the movie protesting Shahrukh's support for the Pakistani players in the IPL. Bal Thackeray and his son went to the extent of calling Shahrukh Khan a traitor asking him to settle down in Pakistan. They vandalised theatres and tore down the posters of the movie.

Shiv Sena which had taken the law into it's own hands got a taste of people's sentiments the day My Name Is Khan released. People thronged the movie theatres in Mumbai in tons and gave a thumbs up to the movie. The administration on it's part made elaborate security arrangements to counter Sena's bluff. Although Bal Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray congratulated party workers on the agitation but they turned out to be 'paper tigers' in the end.
