KFCC restricts release of Raavan in Karnataka

By By Raymond Ronamai

Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) recently came down heavily on Hrithik Roshan-Barbara Mori starrer Kites and banned its release on the first day after the distributors tried to release it in more than 24 theatres in the state. This time, it's Mani Ratnam's film Raavan, which is going to suffer because of the restriction.

The Big Cinemas has requested the KFCC to let Raavan release in Karnataka as two films, as it is a bi-lingual film being made in Tamil as Raavanan. It has asked to relax the restriction policy. However, Vasant Kumar Patil, president of KFCC, said that Raavan will be released in only 24 theatres in the state.

The KFCC has restricted the release of non-Kannada films to 24 theatres in the state with an aim to protect the Kannada film industry. So, Raavan, starring Abhishek Bachchan, Vikram and Aishwarya Bachchan will be released in limited theatres.
