Actor cum director Satish Kaushik has adopted his ancestral village Dhanaunda, Mahendragarh District in Haryana, 140 kms from Delhi. Although born and brought up in Karol Baug, Delhi, Mr. Kaushik is very attached to his ancestral village that brings back memories of his childhood and his grandparents.

Pledging to take up the development and wellbeing of the 7500 - 10000 odd population, Mr. Kaushik aims to transform it into a model village with all basic amenities like electricity, water supply, concrete roads and hygienic sewage systems.

In a bid to materialize this further, Mr. Satish Kaushik met Haryana Chief Minister Mr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda in Chandigarh on 3rd October, 2010, and presented him his plan. Following this, the chief minister has not only approved and supported his initiative but has also granted Rs. 50, 00,000 from the rural development corporation for Dhanaunda village.

The news was announced at a small ceremony in his village on 5th October in the presence of the Deputy Commissioner Mr. Vikas Gupta and various administrative heads to kick start the development process.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Kaushik said, “I am very grateful that I am able to do this for my village. My grandparents, uncles, cousins and other relatives have lived here all their lives and I have spent beautiful days of my childhood here. I felt helpless when I returned here after so many years to see the state of my ancestral village. It is then that I decided to transform it into a model village and set an example for other smaller villages around. I am very thankful that I can finally see it materializing."
