Shiv Sena warns radio channels in Mumbai

By By Raymond Ronamai

The party workers of Shiv Sena staged a demonstration outside the offices of FM Radio channels Red FM and Radio Mirchi in Mumbai yesterday, demanding the channels to adhere to the dictates of its chief Bal Thackeray and play Marathi songs.

Red FM has agreed to play Marathi songs but has sought more time, as its main office is located in Chennai. However, Radio Mirchi has promised to start playing Marathi songs in its channel very soon.

The political outfit alleged that the Maharashtrians should not be deprived of listening to Marathi songs, as some radio channels play all types of songs including Bollywood and western but not Marathi. It is said that Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray had earlier sent warning to radio stations to start playing Marathi songs within a week time.
