Aamir Khan tones down Delhi Belly's Hindi version

By Kalyani Prasad Keshri

It is a well known fact that Aamir Khan next release, Delhi Belly is a saucy film, with jokes, gags and dialogues on sexual concern, that has never been produced by Bollywood ever. Therefore the dubbed Hindi version of Delhi Belly has been toned down to soften the impact of the dirty words used by the characters.

Producer-actor Aamir Khan took a conscious decision to make the Hindi version sound less shady and offensive. The Hindi version of Delhi Belly will be far less colourful than in the English (or Hinglish) version. Aamir felt that the sexual abuses sounded really obnoxious in Hindi and thus decided to soften it by using Hindi euphemism like 'leta hai' and 'deti hai'.

Says Aamir's spokesperson to Bollywood Hungama, "You could say that. The Hindi version is far less colourful. This was a conscious decision taken to make the Hindi version more acceptable to a wider adult audience. But there was no original English version. What you're referring to as an English version of Delhi Belly is actually a 'Hinglish' version. 70 percent of it is in English and 30 percent is in Hindi. But the Hindi version is 100 percent in Hindi. And yes the Hindi version has far less colourful in language."

Delhi Belly has been directed by Abhinav Deo and stars Imran Khan, Kunal Roy Kapoor and Vir Das in the leading roles.
