RPI (Republican Party of India) leader Ramdas Athawale today said his party would oppose ace director Prakash Jha's upcoming flick Aarakshan if its contents are detrimental to the interest of Dalits. "We will oppose the film (Aarakshan) if its contents are against Dalits and try to paint the upper-castes in good light," Athawale told reporters.
Aarakshan , starring Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Saif Ali Khan and Prateik Babbar in lead roles is a high voltage socio-political drama based on the most controversial policies of the caste-based reservations in government jobs and educational institutions.
National Commission for Scheduled Castes had recently dubbed Arakashan, releasing August 12, as anti-Dalit. Aarakshan has been facing opposes from different political organisations. The film has also been facing ban on promotions in Uttar Pradesh.
